Top 5 FitWatch Fitness Calculators

by Suzanne Hiscock

FitWatch’s tagline is “Get the Data. Get the Knowledge. Get Fit.”  I think getting the “data”—the numbers—plays a key part in weight loss.  That’s why I love creating all kinds of fitness calculators.  You seem to like them too—the fitness calculators get a lot of traffic!

Here’s a countdown to the 5 most popular fitness calculators on FitWatch:

# 5 - BMR Calculator

Your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the estimated minimum level of energy required to sustain the body’s vital functions when at rest. The Harris-Benedict formula is used to calculate the BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate).

# 4 - Calorie Deficit Calculator

This calculator will determine the estimated total number of calories you need to maintain your current weight based on your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and your level of activity. It will also give you the estimated number of calories you should be eating in a day to lose fat (calorie deficit).

# 3 - Weight Loss Target Date

The Weight Loss Target Date calculator gives you an idea of how long it will take to lose that weight. After you enter your info, the calculator estimates how many calories you need to stay at the same weight (total daily calorie needs). It then calculates 5 different calorie deficits and how long it will take you to lose those pounds.

# 2 - Body Fat Percentage Calculator

Use this calculator to figure out your body fat percentage. Although there are more accurate methods (hydrostatic weight, skinfold calipers), you can still use this method to track any changes that appear.

And she’s really TRULY SORRY ABOUT THAT. You see, she didn’t realize she was contributing to diet culture; she just wanted to help people feel better. But losing weight isn’t the way to do it. She’s on a mission to change all that with an anti-diet approach. So, pardon the dust on the floor as the website gets revamped.
