I Finally Got Back into My Jeans!

Posted in: Motivation, Weight Loss

jump for joyAllow me a great, big WHOOHOO! You see, I’ve been wearing my “fat” pants for awhile now (not to mention my, ugh, sweat pants), but they started getting too loose. I had been trying on my “next-size-down” black jeans, but they were still too tight. (Take it from me, if you can’t sit down for long in your jeans, they’re too tight!) I didn’t even bother trying them on anymore, figuring I’d try again when I lost more weight.

So, 10 days ago, I bit the bullet and told myself to get a pair of jeans that fit, even if I had to go up a size. (Can you tell I’ve been watching What Not to Wear?) Problem was, the next size up was too big. So, I ended up buying a pair of blue jeans the next size down — even though they were a bit snug. After a couple of days, they stretched out a bit, and by the end of the week, they were fitting great.

But then this week-end, I looked at the tag of my new blue jeans. They were THE SAME SIZE as my “too tight” black jeans!

So, guess what I’m wearing right now? Yup, my “too tight” black jeans now fit me! There’s just a teensy-bit of a muffin-top, but it’s just a matter of time (and discipline) before that’s gone.

It’s taken me since the beginning of January to get to this point. Nothing magical about it; just eating better, moving more and setting goals. (One of my turning points was getting “Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle” by trainer/bodybuilder Tom Venuto — the first chapter on goals just totally clicked for me. I never thought goals were that important until I read his chapter on it. The sales page may seem a bit “hypy,” but Tom’s ebook is full of rock-solid and healthy fat loss information.)

I’ve got a few more pairs of “next-size-down” jeans I want to fit into. I have a pair of expensive jeans that I bought in ’98; they were a bit tight when I bought them, and I was never able to get into them again. And I still have a pair of shorts that I was wearing when I was in the best shape of my life. I doubt I could I could get them over my hips today…

I think I’m going to get out all my old jeans, line them up by size so that I can visualize myself losing enough weight and being fit enough to fit into them. I’m going to try them all on, and write down whether I can get into them and zip ‘em up. Hey, I think I’ve got a title for it: The Journey of My Old Jeans –The Slimming Down of Suzanne, One Size at a Time. Or something like that… :-)
