When you’ve determined that you’re going to lose weight and set your weight loss targets you need to decide which diet plan is right for you. The Internet can be a great tool when you’re researching different methods. Be sure to choose a diet plan that’s right for you. If you don’t like meat, then a low carb diet will be difficult to stick with. Your diet plan should reflect your eating preferences and your lifestyle. If you don’t like the food, or don’t have the time for lengthy preparation, it will be much easier to cheat.
Now that you’ve chosen your diet plan, go through your refrigerator, freezer and pantry shelves and get rid of the foods you’re not supposed to have. If it’s not there staring you in the face you won’t be as likely to be tempted. You can give unopened nonperishable foods to a food bank. Toss the rest or give to a friend.
Plan your menus for the next week, or for at least the next 4 days, include allowable snacks. Make a shopping list. Hit the grocer’s and stock up on what you can have. Don’t deviate from the list unless it’s to make a like substitution. For example: You may have planned salmon, asparagus and brown rice for one of the dinners, but fresh trout and broccoli look much better. Other than the once a week, or at most twice a week shopping trips, stay out of the grocer’s. The last thing you need is to be surrounded by food that’s not on your OK list.
If you have a family, put them on the same diet as you are, if it’s possible. (Make sure your diet plan is a healthy one!) You don’t have to mention that their meals will change. If there are complaints, tell the complainers that meals at home will be prepared so you can stick with your diet plan. If they need their cookies, cakes, and ice cream they can eat them when they’re away from home.
You could also gently encourage your significant other to join you in your diet plan. Another option is to prepare the meal so you stay on your diet but offer the rest of the family a favorite extra side dish, preferably one you don’t care for.
Starting a new diet plan can seem daunting, but if you take the time to prepare yourself ahead of time, you’ll be setting yourself up for success with your weight loss!.

I really like this article. Unlike many diet articles, you give very practical advice that applies to the everyday challenges of losing weight. Through trial and error, these are exactly the things I discovered I needed to do to increase my chances of success. When the family wants “unhealthy” foods and stocks some snacks I find myself cheating. When we do it together and I keep that bad stuff out of the house, I do very well. And despite their initial reaction of fear of deprivation, the family is not suffering.
