Would You Use a Countdown Calendar to Help You Lose Weight?

Posted in: Exercise, Nutrition, Weight Loss    |    5 comments

What is a Countdown Calendar?
A countdown calendar can help you focus on your weight loss goals by counting backwards from the start of a weight loss session until your goal date. So, let’s say, you were doing a 90 day (12 week) countdown, the first day of your weight loss journey would start at Day 90, then Day 89, all the way down to DAY ZERO. You would also have on this calendar your weigh-in and measurement days — and anything else that can help you lose weight.

The thing is, you need to sit there and write/type each day: Day 90, Day 89, Day 88, Day 87…

Sounds like a lot of work!
What if I could do most of the work creating the calendar for you and you could then import it into your own digital calendar — for example, Outlook, Google Calendar, Thunderbird or Windows Calendar? I’d also give you instructions on how to import the calendar. All you would have to do is add in your workout days. The calendar would also have daily weight loss tips.

I’d create a calendar to start on January 1st, but I’d also create a few that start on Monday, January 4th and Monday, January 11th. So, I’d like to know: if I create a countdown calendar, would you take the time to import it and use it? Use the poll on the right-hand side to give me your answer. If I get enough positive answers, I’ll get on it right away!

Here’s a rough example. Ignore the colors — you can set your own favorite color. Click on the image below to enlarge:

And here’s where I got the idea for creating a countdown calendar:

  1. Hey, I like this idea. I have ways of having multiple calendars online at work which will let me know when appointments are due.
But never could find a good way of having one that would remind me of events using my computer at home. If I could set this up to remind me via email or blackberry that would be a win-win! Good article Suzanne

  2. I’ll look into this a bit more. Yesterday, I quickly looked into whether the reminders would stick when being imported — it didn’t seem to stick in some applications. It could be that your best option would be to import the calendar into Google calendar and then sync it with your Blackberry.

    Thanks for your feedback!
