Weight Loss Challenge — Week 6 – Letting the Stress Get to Me
Posted in: July to October 2009, Suzanne's Weight Loss Journey, Week 6
The beginning of the week went pretty well, even though I didn’t post any updates. (Sorry about that!) But I just kept putting some things off and then by mid-week things got pretty busy up until the end of the week. Problem is, when I’m feeling stressed, I stop eating properly — usually by eating larger meals less frequently and/or by grabbing some unhealthy snacks. And then, by the end of the day, wine or beer seems like such a “right.” A “right” as in, “Heck, yes, I deserve some wine after the day I’ve had!” Why can’t I just say, “Heck, yes, I’ll take a protein smoothie after the day I’ve had!” LOL!
It’s not like any bad results happened, as you’ll see from my Week 6 weigh-in. I gained .2lbs (that’s point two): .1lbs of fat and .1lbs lean body mass. But I know I can do much better!
I looked back at my Week 2 food where I had great fat loss results: calories were around 1600, fat was higher than my current goal of 20% and any alcohol was a glass of wine. This past week, I did have beer instead of wine, and I swear it seems to make a difference. Sometimes I’m tempted to cut out the alcohol all together, but I like having a glass of wine at the end of the day (moreso by the end of the week, and moreso in the summertime).
Since I’m playing catch-up, I won’t be posting any details this time. Monday and Wednesday were 1600 cal days; Tuesday was 1800 cals. I also skipped a couple of workouts! I forgot about that. Exercise is a great stress reliever, but for some reason I skip it when I’m feeling stressed.
Hope you had a better week. If not, don’t give up: look forward, not backwards, and have a better week this week. That’s what I’m aiming for!
