Weight Loss Challenge Week 1, Day 4 & Day 5 — Stress Gets in the Way
Posted in: July to October 2009, Suzanne's Weight Loss Journey, Week 1
Well, it happened. I let work stress get the best of me! Had major technical issues starting at around 3:00PM on Thursday; worked all the way until midnight. Got back up early (after only 4 hours of sleep) and kept back at it until around 4:00 PM on Friday. By that point, I was so tired and wanting to decompress that I didn’t hesitate when Terry said, “Let’s order out Indian food!”
Most of Thursday’s food was right on target, but my plans to have lots of veggies with just a cup of pasta for supper turned into 2 bowls (with no veggies) being wolfed down at my desk. Friday during the day wasn’t too bad, but no veggies, no fruits. Just eating when I remembered to eat. And, well, we won’t talk about the Indian food! (And the wine. Did I mention the white wine? Maybe it’s better off left unsaid??)
While a part of me is a bit embarrassed about this happening in the public eye, so to speak — another part of me is… Well, “glad” isn’t the right word. But it is what it is, and I do want this blog to show people what happens when you’re trying to lose some weight. The successes AND challenges.
I’m not posting any specific details — so, apologies, no colorful charts and graphs this time! Ha! I can’t even remember exactly what I ate on Friday. I had a great cardio workout on Thursday, but skipped my Friday weight training. Still pretty tired today, but I might go for a bike ride later, if it ever stops raining, or try a step workout. Puttering around the house besides that.
Someone on the FitWatch Facebook fan page asked what to do if you go over your calorie goal in a day, which fits in well with what happened to me. (What can I say? Butter chicken and onion bhaji are a weakness! Ha!) If I’m already using a calorie deficit goal, I don’t (do NOT) go below that the next day. I pick myself up, dust myself off and get back to plan; maybe get in a bit extra exercise.
Remember, if you get off track, you’re always just one meal and one workout away from getting back ON track!
What do you do when you get off track? You can answer in the comments down below or come share it on Facebook.
