Making Time for Your Marriage

If you’re a mom you know that your job never ends. There are so many things to do and consider that you don’t often have time to think about anything else. This can be a slippery slope that leads to trouble in your marriage.

It’s not anyone’s fault that this happens but the consequences can be severe. You definitely want to make sure you do set aside some time to nurture your relationship with your husband. Marriage is so special and sacred that you need to take the time for one another.

This can be hard at first because you feel like you should be attending to your children instead. What you need to realize is that you’re setting an example for your children. If they sense a tense energy between you and your husband it can do more harm than good. Also, the more time you spend with your husband the easier your family life will be overall.

It’s easy enough to say all this and have it as a goal. It’s a quite another to actually achieve it! Break the different aspects of your marriage into smaller parts in order to make this easier to handle.

The number one thing most couples need to work on is communication. When you’re able to communicate with your spouse you’ll have a much happier marriage. Many of the problems that occur between man and wife are because of miscommunication and misunderstandings. Communicating exactly what you need and mean can make all the difference in the world.

Another problem that’s common in many households is that one person usually ends up making most of the decisions. This is a problem when the other person starts to feel a sense of resentment. You may or may not notice this is happening.

A better option is for both you and your spouse to have an equal say in the major decisions. There’s a great balance that’s needed here. Once you’ve it in place you’ll start to see a lot more harmony in your life.

Another problem that’s common in many marriages is not spending enough time together as a couple. Yep, your kids don’t have to be hanging on you 24/7! Your spouse is important to so make sure you let them know it. This can be achieved even with a child as young as a baby. Find those key times when the child is asleep so you can be romantic together.

Above all, don’t sweat the small stuff. Thinking about the small problems in your marriage day after day does no good. It will most likely snowball into a very large problem that’s unmanageable. With every decision you make consider whether it’s truly worth the effort.

Even though being a mom is an incredibly important job, being a wife is important as well. Take the time to communicate with your spouse and truly be there for them. Let some things roll off your back and truly enjoy being together. Your kids will love you for it.
