Blueprint Your Way to Goal Success!

Building anything without a blueprint is a recipe for disaster! The same can be said for the goals you have in your life. It doesn’t matter what the goal is, you definitely need a plan if you hope to succeed.

The very first things to include are the actual goals themselves. Keep in mind that you need goals that are actionable. Saying, “I want to be healthier” does not have the same effect as “I want to eat 6 small, healthy meals per day.” It’s far easier to follow the second choice because it gives you the direction you need to go in.

If your goals are too general you’ll have a hard time following them. When goals are hard to follow, they generally get set to the side and are never brought up again. This is definitely not something you want to let happen to you! Make your goals something that’s easy to attain and understand.

In addition to making your goals attainable you should also give yourself rewards. That’s right! Goal setting can be rewarding! This will actually help you achieve your goal faster because you’re already starting to see a positive benefit. Since you’ll want to reward yourself along the way, it’s especially important to break your goals up into smaller steps. That way the rewards will come often and you’ll be well on your way to achieving the whole enchilada.

The rewards can be anything you want. One thing you should be careful about is to make them appropriate to the goal. If you want to lose weight, your reward shouldn’t be a batch of cookies. Likewise, if your goal is to cut down on debt, you shouldn’t reward yourself with a shopping spree. As long as the reward doesn’t cut into the message of your goal you should be fine.

Your blueprint will include the goal itself, the rewards, and the smaller steps you’re going to take to get there. Give yourself time to formulate this blueprint and you’ll be good to go. Make sure you review the blueprint often to make sure you’re staying on task.

Even those with the best intentions and best blueprint will sometimes experience setbacks. If this happens to you just keep going! This goes with the old saying that if you fall off the horse just get right back on again or you never will. Don’t let minor distractions get you down and you’ll do great.

Giving yourself a blueprint for your goals is a surefire way to get success. Match this up with rewards for the smaller goals along the way and you’ll have the motivation you need to keep on going.
