I bet if you were to look in your closet and go through all of your shoes, you’d realize that you don’t have many pairs that are actually very comfortable for walking. Am I right? You probably won’t be able to find more than one or two pairs. Choosing the proper walking shoe is a must in order to prevent foot injuries and other problems.

Who hasn’t bought a pair of shoes because they were fashionable, or went with an outfit perfectly, but caused you to end up grimacing in pain for most of the time they were on your feet? Okay, admittedly, in the past, shoes that have been comfortable for walking have not exactly been flattering to wear. That just isn’t the case anymore. Today you have a wide variety of really good walking shoes to choose from. It’s in your best interest to pick shoes that will keep your feet healthy.

  • Always try to find shoes that are shaped like your foot, and provide ample toe room. Tight shoes will cause blisters, calluses and many other problems with your feet that can make you feel miserable.
  • Shoes need to feel comfortable. You should have room to wiggle your toes, and the soles of the shoes should be able to flex at the ball of your foot.
  • Wear the proper size. We have all made that sacrifice for the pair of shoes we just had to have! Don’t buy them if they are just a bit too small or big. The end result will be pain and discomfort for your feet.
  • Have your feet sized before you buy your shoes. Changes occur to the feet as we get older, or even after having a baby. Sizes and shapes of the feet change, so you need to always check for proper measurements.

If you’re finding yourself constantly removing your shoes while sitting at your desk or at home, you need to accept that your feet are not as comfortable as you would like them to be. Never sacrifice comfort for style. With the huge selection of shoes available today, there’s no need to give up a nice looking shoe to find ones that are comfortable on our feet.

The bottom line is that you need to have comfortable shoes to encourage activity, such as walking. If your feet are not comfortable, you won’t be getting up and walking, which means you’re not getting the exercise you need. So, guess what? You now have the very best reason to go shoe shopping!

Eat better, move more, and believe in yourself!
