A stability ball (aka exercise ball, swiss ball) is one of my favorite piece of equipment. I use it for all kinds of exercises — from crunches to pullovers to using it to do seated exercises in place of my bench.

One of my favorite stability ball exercise is the Hamstring Curl. Killer butt exercise! Check out the video down below from ACE to see how to do hamstring curls on the stability ball. They also show you how to do Stability Ball Knee Tucks (my upper body’s still not strong enough for those).

Treadmill Safety Tips

Posted in: Exercise, Exercise Equipment, Weight Loss    |    Comment

Treadmill safety is important if you want to get the best out of your exercise program. Treadmill workouts are one of the best ways of increasing cardiovascular fitness. Most fitness tests are based on how well a person can perform a treadmill test, and treadmills are also a very efficient way of burning off calories.

There are many benefits to starting a regular treadmill workout. Like all forms of exercise it can help to burn off body fat, lose weight, reduce the risks of heart disease developing, and alleviate depression and negative feelings about the body. However, there are also some risks. It is best to check with your doctor that you do not have any pre-existing conditions that would make it inadvisable for you to start an exercise program right now. It is also important for everyone to start with a low or moderate level of exercise and increase very gradually.

Finding The Best Home Treadmills

Posted in: Exercise, Exercise Equipment, Weight Loss    |    Comment

You will want to buy one of the best home treadmills for your purposes when you are equipping your home gym. This does not mean that it has to be new. A used treadmill can be great, especially if you find one that has not been much used.

Many people buy exercise equipment or have it as a gift and then do not use it. You can find a good one by looking for signs of wear and asking the owner how much use it has had. Also check where it has been stored. Sometimes if someone bought a treadmill and then did not get around to using it they may not have taken care to store it in a dry place. Any rust is a bad sign.

Where To Find Discount Treadmills

Finding discount treadmills is not always easy, but it can be done if you know how to go about it. You have many options.

You could look for a used treadmill. You will often get a great bargain here because many people will receive a treadmill as a gift or buy one in a mood of resolution to lose weight, exercise more, etc (especially around New Year’s) and then find they do not use it. As treadmills take up quite a bit of space in the house, after a while they will look around for a way to sell it.

It’s such a common occurrence, it’s become a cliche: you spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, on a treadmill, exercise bike or an elliptical machine, only to see it gather enough dust to make your mother weep when she visits — or worse yet, you can’t even see the darn thing because it’s a rather expensive clothes hanger. Out of sight, out of mind seems to be your motto.
