Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars Excellent coaching resource!!!!!!   September 12, 2008

Successful Soccer Coaching is an excellent book for any coach. I am currently coaching a jr. high girls' team and I have built many practices and produced several game strategies with help from this resource. There are many practice drills, offensive and defensive strategies, goalkeeper training, and an extremely effective kick-off. The "Terry kick-off" works very well but is also simple enough to use at any level. I would highly recommend this book to any new or veteran coach. It is a must-have for your coaching library!

My sons are just starting to get involved in soccer, and I wanted a book that would help me to understand the game better and give me some ideas for at-home practice. This book is excellent! There is a chapter that deals with skill practice as well as several chapters that cover specific offensive and defensive strategies and tactics. All of the drills are clearly described and the figures are exceptionally good and easy to follow. The book also contains information about the game that has helped me to understand it much more thoroughly than before -- the author's writing style is clear, logical, and easy to follow. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has any interest in soccer at any level...it's fantastic!

Coach Terry's text is an innovative and effective resource for any soccer coach, player or parent. His book is just filled with useful tips and advice for coaches that you can actually implement and understand from the very start. The skills and technical aspects of the game are the methods that he studied, developed and refined over the years of his coaching career. I particularly liked the attacking themes he presents even from the kick-off. I found these themes fun and easy to relate to my players who worked on specific techniques in practice and used them in their games. All in all this is very comprehensive study of soccer in a foremat that any soccer enthusiast can benefit from. I'm glad I have this little gem in my library.
