4 out of 5 stars A journal of pose progress and inspiration   January 19, 2000

I love the style of this book, i first discovered it at a local library! It gives you a pose, then a chart to log your degree of difficulty then inspiring words..thru out as various poses are introduced. There is a listing of various types of yoga at intro and then when a pose is shown, you have a description of benefits, basic position instructions and how to breath, on following page you chart your body awareness and date. You only compete with YOU. At the end of each chapter is a page called INSIGHT: coordinating your body and mind in harmony for exa: the key point is to move into and out of a pose, with your mind and body. Pause and take a short rest after practice...your body and mind will absorb the results of the stretch. There are a lot of awareness exercises. It is a great layman's or laywoman's way of explaining the basic concepts of yoga!
