Great Drill BookSeptember 29, 2008 trainer23 146 out of 147 found this review helpful
If you're looking for drills to improve you or your athletes speed, agility, or quickness- look no further.
The book starts out with a short chapter on preparing for the drills followed by another short chapter on "needs analysis" (which shows you how to evaluate the need for a speed, agility, and quickness program).
The rest of the book from there is the "meat" of the book: three sections of drills, one for speed, one for agility, and one for quickness. Each of these sections is loaded with great pictures of the drills along with the purpose of the drill and an explanation of how to do it.
The book ends with a 6th Chapter on sport-specific programs. Here the reader is given routines for all the different sports such as volleyball, karate, baseball, etc.
All-in-all I found this to be a very nice resource for drills- drills for really just about any sport. To boot, the size of the book is such that you can toss it in a gym bag and take it with you. Other sports resources I liked include The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution if you suffer from plantar fasciitis. Happy training!
Great help for improving base performanceMarch 7, 2001 Starr J Fenner(Jonesboro, AR United States) 53 out of 55 found this review helpful
We purchased the book a few weeks ago and since using the program my daughter is a new person. After learning the basic skills in each of the three categories: speed, agility and quickness, she has increased both her performance and attitude. She is working on her volleyball skills and is improving her reflexes. She really enjoys the drills. She has been practicing some of the rolls and moves even when she is not working out.
The guidance is what she really needed and has really helped her athleticism.
This is the text that I have been waiting for!August 22, 2000 Mike(Wisconsin) 65 out of 70 found this review helpful
No need to spend valuable time searching your files for various drills any longer. These coaches have placed drills into separate categories for our convenience. The combination of old and new drills will make your conditioning sessions more enjoyable for the athletes, and will certainly meet the training objectives of any coaching staff. There is a section which has sample programs that will give athletes, parents, and coaches solid advice on how to develop and organize a SAQ program that can be tailored specifically to fit individual needs.

Something for everyoneDecember 17, 2004 Edmon Begoli(Knoxville, TN United States) 34 out of 36 found this review helpful
This is a pretty good book.
Book covers several hundred excercises divided into
the categories related to what each excercise targets - improvements in speed, agility or quickness. There is also a set of chapters describing what
each of these (speed, agility, quickness) really mean in the sports context,
and what affects their development.
At the end of the book there is a training program, and there is also a speed, agility and quickness training program designed specifically for most of the popular sports (did not find cricket or polo).
I would recommend taking a look at this book - specially if you are competition minded, or if you are a coach.
I also think that book is relatively inexpensive for what you get.
Great reference for any athlete!April 7, 2006 Krista Bebernes(Rancho Cucamonga, Ca USA) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
As a graduate student in the field and a competetive division 1 NCAA volleyball player, I found this book to be a great reference for improving my speed, agility and quickness. The pictures, explanations and DVD made it easy to incorperate proper form into each drill.
I would feel comfortable referring this book to anyone who wants to improve their game regardless of their sport or level of experience.
This is a great book, one that I will keep in my library forever.
